Introduction

ServiceRequestLabOrder is a profile based on the FHIR resource ServiceRequest.

Intended Use

ServiceRequestLabOrder is used for laboratory orders. The profile can be used either to request all laboratory orders for a patient, or request information for a single laboratory order. The intended use for reading data with this API is in first hand that the API is applied for direct access and to create service requests for laboratory orders.

Specific Rules and Limitations

Type Description
Rule The consumer of the API is responsible for making sure data retrieved is filtered in compliance with laws and regulations prior to presenting it to any end-users.
Rule For reading service requests, the external system needs to be able to evaluate PDL. This means whether the information can be displayed for a healthcare professional with a specific assignment.PDL data needed (HSA care unit and HSA care provider) is retrieved by including the organization referenced from ServiceRequest.performer.organization (OrganizationSEVendorLite).
Limitation Currently only chemistry orders are supported.
Limitation If COSMIC is the back-end system, then all analyte/analysis included in an order need to have the same status.
Limitation The currently supported status are draft, active, revoked and completed.
Limitation If COSMIC is the back-end system then the FHIR priority STAT is not supported for chemistry orders.
Limitation If COSMIC is the back-end system then multiple domains/specialties are not supported in a single order.
