Introduction

The ObservationBPComplex profile represents the vital sign blood pressure and additional information related to the observation such as how the patient's body was positioned at the time for instance. Therefore in comparison to ObservationBPLite, this profile captures more information besides the systolic and diastolic blood pressure values.
The profile is derived from the standard FHIR profile ObservationVitalSigns and ObservationBP which makes the profile compliant with the FHIR standardized way of communicating vital sign data.
The must support flag indicates which attributes that will be stored as part of the observation in a Cambio system.

In COSMIC this observation is mapped to the internal archetype for complex blood pressure.

Specific Rules and Limitations

Type Description
Rule If the performer is Patient, the subject should be the same as given performer.
Rule If either the systolic or diastolic blood pressure is not included, a value must be sent in component.dataAbsentReason.
Rule The data should not be patient initiated. If patient generated, it should be ordered by a care giver and belong to a specific unit.
Rule When creating a complex blood pressure observation, the status must be 'final'.
Rule dateTime cannot be only date component, also time component will be needed.
